Science Fair

Science Fair 5

With all the excitement of Spring starting I forgot to share pictures of Kinsley first science fair.  She has always been a lover of all things science so this opportunity was one that we couldn't pass up.  She worked so very hard on her experiment and her display.  Taking lots of time and care to make sure that each piece was exactly how she wanted it.  Making the display board was a great way for her to work on her letter recognition, letter sounds, and writing as well.

And in the end she ended up with a great project, and a wonderful experience.  She was nervous about talking to the judges but she handled it extremely well. She kept saying how proud she was of her hard work and I was one proud mama as well.

New garden

We got a headstart on Spring this past weekend by building our new garden beds.  A few hours of work and some repurposed materials and we have two great new beds to hold our veggies.

We're giving the weather just a bit more time to fully warm before transferring to the beds but I will admit it is very hard to wait.  I am anxious to see all those green plants in lovely little rows.  Soon.

Easter Swap fun

This year I was fortunate enough to get to participate in the Easter Swap over at this Cosy Life and I am so glad I did.  This has been such a fun little swap and the packages that are arriving in the mail are beyond adorable.  I'll have to share all our lovely surprises with you later this week.  For my part of the swap I crocheted some little wool eggs in some very fun bright colors.  I loved making these eggs so much that I've made nearly 2 dozen since then.  I think maybe I'll need to share a few with you in giveaway form this week just to spread the love.

Each package I sent out also included a sweet little Spring peg doll and toadstool.  These simple little dolls are just perfect for Spring in my opinion.  As you can see they helped transform our nature table and get it ready to be decorated for the new season coming this week.  I can't wait to see what our nature table will turn out like this Spring.  Should be fun.

Cranky

Boy what a week this has been.  We have all been cranky this past week and no matter how hard we tried to snap out of it the mood seemed to follow us.  That's not to say that there weren't good moments, of course there were. Sometimes we just need to stop and focus on them.

:: lots of laughter was shared.

Truly there was no good reason for this mood to linger around us and I'm thankful to be able to say this week is starting out much better. I do believe we are all in need of a bit of time away though. Maybe soon we'll head off on a new adventure. For now we'll be happy with all our adventures right here at home.

This Moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual inspired by Soulemama. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

New letters

I'm taking advantage of our empty calendar this week and trying to get a few projects finished.  I'm sure I'm not the only one with a million little projects that need to be finished and would really only take a few minutes to do.  Right?  Please tell me it isn't just me.

Today I finally took the time to redo the name letters for Kaitlyn's wall.  After her little redecorating stunt last year I took the letters down and just never redid them.  Largely because I knew she'd just take them off the wall like every other decoration we tried to hang.

Thankfully she seems to be out of that stage and so today we are trying again.  I used the same chipboard letters as before and simply peeled the old paper off.  We picked out a few new sheets of scrapbook paper during our last trip to Hobby Lobby.

Then I just traced each letter onto the back of the scrapbook paper with a regular pencil and cut them out.  I used good old Elmer's glue in stick form to attach the paper and it worked perfectly.

To attach them to the wall I used sticky velcro dots.  I've used this method several times and it's worked really well.  I can take the letters down to redo them if needed but otherwise they stay on the wall tremendously well.  The only downside is that the little dots can be hard to remove from wall on occasion.

The whole project took maybe 15 minutes from start to finish, now hopefully they'll last a bit longer up on the wall.  I think they stand a good chance this time because she was really excited to get her decorations back and keeps having me come look at them.  Fingers crossed.
